Indigenous Responses to Colonial IncursionsÌýis a conference to be held on theÌýFourth Week of August 2021, to mark theÌý26thÌýanniversaryÌýof the Archaeological Studies Program, University of the Philippines-Diliman (UP-ASP). The theme is in line with the Quincentennial Commemoration of the Filipinos’ first contact with Magellan’s expedition in 1521. This conference aims to celebrate the responses of the indigenous peoples to Spanish colonialism – be it resistance, conformity or a mixture of both. It pays tribute to the persistence of the Filipinos during the Spanish incursion.
We are inviting participants, especially students, to submit a title and an abstract (200-300 words) that addresses indigenous responses during the Spanish colonial period.
